We've Moved!

Introduction

For the past 15 years, Pete Fowler Construction Services' San Clemente office has been located in a small business park on Calle Negocio. We've been thinking about moving spaces for years, and the time has finally come.

With the recent expansion of the marketing team and purchase of Marc C. Viau & Associates, our little office was getting a bit crammed. Last time Pete was in, we had to set up a make-shift desk in the corner (see photo). So began our hunt for the perfect office space.

After searching high and low, we are eager to announce that on Monday (8/28), we will be moving to an office space a whopping 0.2 miles down the road from the current location to 905 Calle Amanecer, San Clemente, CA.

While we're sad to leave the space PFCS has called "home" for more than a decade... We aren't really all that torn up about it. How could we be?! Our new office is beautiful and has room for us all.

In the past week, we've had movers and painters come through to help make the space feel like a true PFCS workplace. On Friday, our San Clemente employees will pack up their desks and return to the new office on Monday morning. How exciting!

Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine 9/16/2016

If you are looking for an evening of great music mixed with adult humor, join Pete Fowler at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano to see America's loudest lounge singer Richard Cheese perform swingin' Vegas versions of rock and rap songs and "swankifying" popular Top 40 hits into retro vocal standards.  Imagine Sinatra singing Radiohead, and you've got Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine.

The finger-snapping, liquor-lapping, night-capping crooner first stepped into the spotlight in 2000 with his LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE album.  This critically acclaimed CD featured "swankified" versions of alternative rock songs, such as Radiohead's CREEP and Limp Bizkit's NOOKIE, arranged for a big band sound. Thanks to radio stations including KROQ/Los Angeles, Z100/New York City, and the nationally-syndicated Dr. Demento Show, Cheese soon found an audience that shared his love of lounge music, including rockstar Brian Setzer, who hired Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine to play at his private Christmas party with The Stray Cats!

Richard Cheese's songs have been featured in the movie "Dawn Of The Dead," on ABC-TV's "Dancing With The Stars," and he's performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, CNN with Anderson Cooper, The Jonathan Ross Show, KROQ's Kevin & Bean Show, MTV's Say What Karaoke?, Howard Stern, Opie & Anthony, and as the house band 20 times on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly.

The hardest working Dick in show business continues to perform sellout shows all over the world, from Las Vegas to London, from New York to New Orleans, from Hollywood to Honolulu.  Thanks to eighteen albums, hundreds of concerts, 120,000 FaceBook fans, and a million martinis, Richard Cheese has earned a prominent place in that prestigious pantheon of lounge legends:  Frank ... Sammy ... Dean ... and Richard Cheese.

West Coast Casualty May 12th & 13th

Every year, PFCS attends the largest event of its kind in the world, the annual West Coast Casualty Construction Defect Seminar at the Disneyland Resort Hotel in Anaheim, CA. This year, we sponsored the WiFi in the main area, and exchanged business cards for bottles of wine! We had a great time seeing old friends and connecting with some new ones. If you missed us this year, we hope to see you next year!

One of our premier consultants, Mike Villalba, greeting attendees at our booth. Gabriella Wittenberg, our project manager, and Chase Henry, one of our project coordinators, are behind the table.

Background

From the WCC website:

"Since 1993, the West Coast Casualty Construction Defect Seminar has become an institution, a staple and must go to event for all the members of the construction defect community. In no other single place can one learn so much about the prosecution, defense, insurance coverage, science and technology regarding this specialized subject of claims and litigation . . .  and . . .  in no other place will you be able to meet your colleagues where great long lasting relationships can be established which assist you in your claims and litigation handling throughout the business year. It has been long said about our event that it helps bridge the gap between parties by giving them an opportunity, in a neutral forum, to resolve many disputes that they couldn’t do otherwise.

The West Coast Casualty Construction Defect Seminar series is the largest event of its kind worldwide and continues into its 23rd year of bringing the national and international construction defect community its most informative event regarding this specialized subject.

Our attendees, from the legal, insurance, builder, contractor, subcontractor and numerous other communities averaging in number approximately 1,500 per year, come from all across the United States and several foreign countries to hear our speakers views on this continuing and emerging area of claims and law."

WSHB Legendary Party

This year, we also sponsored the WSHB Legendary Party in Downtown Disney. It was a studio 54 theme and everyone had a wonderful time!

Jonny Lang 6/3/2016

On Friday, June 3rd, Pete Fowler and friends will be amazed by the guitar skills of Jonny Lang when he performs at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano.

Take a few minutes to check out this video of Jonny ROCKING  IT!

Born in Fargo, North Dakota in 1981, Jonny picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and played everything from modern hits to classics. Two years later A&M Records, then home of Janet Jackson and Soundgarden, spotted him at a showcase in Minneapolis, and he was suddenly the latest in a trend of shockingly young blues-guitar prodigies.

At 15, Jonny Lang made a blues album, 1997's "Lie to Me," which went platinum and hit No. 1 on Billboard's New Artist chart. At 17 he made another, "Wander This World," which earned a Grammy nomination. Lang's 2006 album, the gospel-influenced Turn Around, won him his first Grammy Award.

Lang has toured with the Rolling Stones, Buddy Guy, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Blues Traveler, Jeff Beck and Sting. In 1999, he was invited to play for a White House audience that included President and Mrs. Clinton. Earlier that year he was selected by the newly elected Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura to perform at his Inaugural Ball. Lang also makes a cameo appearance in the film Blues Brothers 2000 as a janitor. In 2004, Eric Clapton asked Lang to play at the Crossroads Guitar Festival to raise money for the Crossroads Centre Antigua.

Lang also appears regularly as a part of the Experience Hendrix Tour along with many other well-known guitarists to pay tribute the deceased guitar legend.

Prioritizing Maintenance & Repairs On A Limited Budget

Whether you have a limited budget or not, you should always make decisions about property maintenance, improvements and repairs with two ideas in mind: (1.) Lifetime costs and (2.) costs versus benefits. If you perform work (spend maintenance dollars) too early, you will be spending more money over time. But if you spend too late (deferred maintenance), then damage can cause costs to escalate. We will discuss a framework for making smart long-term, cost-benefit decisions about building and property maintenance, repairs and improvements. Pete has given various programs on this and closely related subjects on numerous occasions as webinars and seminars, including for CAI Portland and CAI National (in San Diego).

The event was a major success! And if you ever want to have this program sent to you, let us know!

Gin Blossoms 3/5/2016

When

On Saturday, March 5th, Pete Fowler and friends will be spending the night with the Gin Blossoms at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills.

Summary

Formed in the late 80's in Tempe, Arizona, the Gin Blossoms rose to fame after the release of their first full-length album New Miserable Experience in 92', which spawned the classic 90's hits "Hey Jealousy" and "Found Out About You". The album went on to become certified platinum four times. After their new-found success, they provided another hit, "Until I Hear It From You", for the soundtrack to the cult-comedy film Empire Records. The release of their second album, Congratulations I'm Sorry, yielded yet another top-ten hit, "Follow You Down", but the band broke up shortly after the album was released, and would spend the next five years on hiatus.

In 2002, the band reunited and have been touring ever since, also releasing two more albums in 2006 and 2010.  So, if you're into that 90's non-grungy alternative sound,  come join us for a night of nostalgia!

Paul Stanley's Soul Station 2/26/2016

When

On Friday, February 26th, Pete Fowler and friends had a suite at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano to enjoy a night of music by Paul Stanley's Soul Station.

Summary

For more than 30 years, Paul Stanley has reigned supreme as one of the single-most recognizable front men in the history of rock and roll. Although preferring to live his off stage life out of the media spotlight he continues to be the chief songwriter, driving force and unwavering voice of KISS. A visionary and trendsetter since the early 1970s, Stanley’s passion for both the musical and visual arts has perhaps been the key to the astonishing ongoing worldwide phenomenon known as KISS.

Paul has begun a surprising new gig: soul singer. His new side group, Soul Station, plays a mix of sixties and seventies soul classics, "I don't play guitar in the band and we don't do a single Kiss song," Stanley said in a statement. "That's not what this is about."

The Kiss vocalist's nine-person Soul Station backing band consists of musicians who have played with artists ranging from Christina Aguilera to Bobby Brown. Its drummer, Eric Singer, also plays with Stanley in Kiss. The group will play a mix of songs by the Stylistics, Dramatics, Temptations, Smokey and the Miracles and Blue Magic, among others. Their repertoire includes the Miracles' "Ooo Baby Baby," the Temptations' "Just My Imagination" and the Stylistics' "You Are My Everything."

Over the last 30 years Stanley has channeled his musical vision designing and developing signature musical instruments including guitars that continue to be marketed by numerous musical instrument companies with sales now standing at well over $20 million.

Super Diamond 4/1/2016

What!?

On April Fool's Day, PFCS and friends will be rocking to Super Diamond — The World Famous Neil Diamond Tribute Band, at The Coach House in San Juan Capistano, CA.

Check out their promotional video here.

Why

Super Diamond delivers a glittering, smoke-filled show performing Neil Diamond’s power ballads and up-tempo hits with unrestrained enthusiasm. The show is pure entertainment - classic music combined with fun, energy and passion - creating nostalgia for the good old days and excitement for today's generation.

Super Diamond has generated an exuberant audience response previously unheard of for a tribute band. Many would say that Super Diamond has transcended the label of "tribute band" by passionately immersing themselves in Neil Diamond's huge repertoire and delivering a high-octane show of unforgettable classics such as Cracklin’ Rosie, Sweet Caroline, Forever in Blue Jeans and many others.

Front man The Surreal Neil, Randy Cordeiro, astonishes audiences with his live interpretation of the "Real Neil". Randy created the charismatic character when he discovered he had the uncanny ability to capture not only Neil Diamond's voice, but also his mannerisms and performance style.

Super Diamond has caught the attention of major media publications such as Rolling Stone Magazine, Spin Magazine, New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post and LA Times. The band has been featured on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, Comedy Central and interviewed for VH1's Behind the Music-Neil Diamond Episode.
